It’s easy to forget what Memorial Day actually means while we’re spending time by the pool or BBQ this weekend with family and friends. But the true reason for the holiday signifies much more than a three-day weekend.
Memorial Day gives us a chance to pay homage to the brave men and women who gave their lives defending our great Nation, strengthening America, and helping spread freedom across the globe.
Holocaust survivor and Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel once said, “Without memory, there is no culture. Without memory there would be no civilization, no future.”
Throughout the next few days, I invite you to join me — wherever you may be, whatever you may be doing — to contemplate the cost of our freedom, and to remember, honor, and celebrate the great heroes who laid down their lives so you and I can remain free.
And to those members of the SCF family who fought for peace at home and around the globe, thank you for your service. We are blessed by the extraordinary talent, training, and experience you bring into our organization each and every day.
Happy Memorial Day from the SCF home office.
