Broker-Dealer Packs Gifts for Children Around the World

SCF Securities, an independent boutique broker-dealer headquartered in California, announced its participation in Operation Christmas Child, a project led by international relief and evangelism organization Samaritan’s Purse. OCC is the world’s largest Christmas outreach of its kind.

After the U.S. markets closed on October 29, 2015, the broker-dealer/RIA headquarters briefly paused operations.

During that time, volunteers from the firm’s home office staff packed plastic, shoebox-sized bins with toys, school and art supplies, hygiene products, and other age-appropriate items.

“We have so much to be thankful for in our lives, but so many children in this world are in need,” said President & CEO Randy Meadows.

“We have the resources to change that for some of those children. That’s why we’ve committed as a firm to participate in this initiative — because we can make a lifelong difference in their lives by giving them a little shoebox and a lot of hope.”

Once packed and wrapped, employees attached to each box a staff photo and note of encouragement, which read:

You are a special person chosen by God. God created you and loves you. You are smart. You are important. We pray you’re able to recognize your many talents and gifts.

These gift boxes, along with those from 4,000 collection sites across the United States, will be shipped overseas and delivered by any means necessary — including boat, plane, train, and even elephant — until they reach the hands of needy children in some of the hardest-to-reach countries across the globe.

Since 1993, more than 124 million gift-filled shoeboxes have been collected and delivered to children in more than 150 countries and territories through Operation Christmas Child, according to statistics published by Samaritan’s Purse. In 2015 alone, OCC is expected to deliver shoebox gifts to another 11 million children.
